Scott Gould
National Council Member - Army

Comrade Scott F. Gould joined the VFW in 1991 after attaining eligibility serving with the US Army in Desert Shield and Storm. After serving through all chairs at VFW Post 6342 (North Smithfield, RI), Scott was elected to Post Commander and held that position for 5 years. During this period of time, he started going through the District Chairs ultimately being elected District Commander. He then continued serving the Department moving through the Chairs and being elected State Commander in 2001. Scott continued his VFW service as Eastern States Conference Chairman. After completing another combat assignment during Operation Iraq Freedom, Scott continued to serve his Post serving as Post Quartermaster/Adjutant, a position he holds to this day. In 2025, Scott was elected to serve as Rhode Island's Member on the National Council of Administration. He was also appointed as State Adjutant at this same Convention.
  Scott served in the US Army from 1982-2024 as an Infantryman/Mortarman/Military Policeman during his 42 years of service. He retired at mandatory age 60. He held numerous positions throughout his career ultimately retiring as First Sergeant (a position he held 5 times for different units) and acting Command Sergeant Major for the 1-304th IN Bn. His awards are numerous and include the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), and Order of St. Maurice.
  On the personal side of his life, Scott served as a police officer for the North Smithfield (RI) and Millville (MA) Police Departments for a total of 38 years. His is married to his wife Francesca (Mencucci) Gould. They have one son, Scott II, and currently reside in North Smithfield, RI.
